ATE doctorate prize for Erik Sippel
Dr.-Ing. Erik Sippel received the ATE Doctoral Prize on Faculty of Engineering Day 2023. This is awarded in recognition of outstanding scientific achievements to doctoral students at FAU’s Faculty of Engineering. In his dissertation “Holographic 3D Indoor Localization”, he laid the foundations for precise holographic localization, which is characterized in particular by its feasibility within any communication standard such as 5G, 6G or WLAN. The concept is currently being implemented in the Bluetooth standard within the EXIST-funded start-up project “inveneer” with the aim of precisely locating any end-user device indoors. For anyone interested, the 3-minute Science SLAM at https://www.fau.tv/course/id/3682 provides an insight into the concept.
