Student position: Fiber optic sensors and laser technology
Are you looking for a HiWi position in the field of optical high-frequency technology and photonics and/or would you like to gain experience in scientific work?
We offer exciting HiWi positions where you have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative, AI-supported systems for fiber-based temperature measurement. You will also have the opportunity to conduct research in the emerging field of hollow-core fiber sensor technology or actively participate in the development of a target simulator for LIDARs. If you are more interested in optical communication, that’s no problem either! With us, you will have the opportunity to make a decisive contribution to setting new standards in optical free-space communication with intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS).
Your tasks are varied and could include the following:
- Working in the laser lab on optical setups
- Design of circuit boards
- Mechanical design of optics and mounts
- Optical simulation
- Recording and analysing measurements
- Scientific documentation and preparation
Previous knowledge of photonics or radar technology, the motivation to familiarise yourself with complex topics and an interest in scientific work are desirable.
